Property and Rates information is provided under the Sections 27 and 28 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 and Section 41 of the Rating Valuations Act 1998, as an online representation of a Public Register.

Southland District Council is required to collect and maintain this information for the purposes of carrying out its functions under the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 and the Rating Valuations Act 1998. The council is obliged to make this information freely available to members of the public, and may not prevent others from accessing property, valuation and rating details about your property. However, accounts information is not displayed on this website.

The information Southland District holds about ratepayers and residents is required for lawful purposes used in the functioning of the Southland District Council and this information is sourced in accordance with Principle 2 of the Privacy Act.

The information is held pursuant to the public register principals outlined in the Privacy Act.
