Call for nominations

The Southland District Council is calling for people in the Wallacetown, Wyndham and Edendale communities to take a part in leading their towns into the future.

Electoral Officer Phil Culling said no nominations have been received so far for the byelections in the three townships. In the October local government elections, only five nominations were received for the six places on each of the three community boards in the towns.

"No, none at all and nominations close next Thursday (December 23)," Mr Culling said.

"It's important people get involved and this chance is for you to have a say in the running of your town."

A few nomination packs have been sent out, but Mr Culling urged people to get their nominations in as quickly as possible.

"We only need one for each of the town's community boards so put your hand up and make a difference."
