District Plan Review

The District Plan sets out Southland District Council's policies and objectives for managing the natural and physical resources of the Southland District. Consisting of maps, objectives, policies and rules, the District Plan sets out which activities are permitted and which require resource consent. The second generation Southland District Plan will guide the development of the District for the next 10 years and beyond. The public notification stage, which is set to take place in 2012, is the final phase of the Plan review process.

District Plan Review Documents

In June 2009, Southland District Council and Environment Southland released joint issues and options papers on a number of topics and held workshops with the community. We asked for your participation and comments on these papers. You can read these papers below.

The comments on the issues and options papers have been put into a "Summary of Community Feedback" document and series of report cards. The summary document and report cards can be viewed below.
