Group Manager Environment and Community Protection
Are you looking for a challenge?
Do you have strategic leadership experience?
Southland District Council is looking for a Group Manager Environment and Community Protection to lead its regulatory, emergency services and district services departments into the future.
This is a new role and enablement, not restriction, is key to accomplishing the many aspects of this senior management position.
You will be part of the executive team, reporting to the Chief Executive, and will be aiming to protect and enhance Southland through strategic leadership. One key involvement will be with the Resource Management department, which is currently undertaking a review of the District Plan. In addition you will be responsible for the Building Control and Environment Health Departments and will assist in ensuring our communities value the legislation as an essential protective measure.
Emergency Management and Rural Fire are managed through a Shared Services arrangement and form part of this diverse portfolio.
With "People First" as our guiding principle, you will also have overall responsibility of the District Libraries and Council's seven area offices.
This role presents significant challenges and provides an opportunity for an applicant with initiative to work with a progressive and forward-thinking Council.
The applicant will be expected to participate fully at a national and local level.
This is a senior position with a strategic rather than an operational focus. If you have considerable senior management experience and want to play a part in Southland's future then we would like to hear from you.
