Milford Sound Piopiotahi
Known around the world for its spectacular beauty, glaciers have shaped the landscape which sees Milford Sound draws large numbers of tourists every year.
Milford Sound was originally known as Milford Haven. It’s renowned for its mountains, the most well-known of which is Mitre Peak – Named for its resemblance to the shape of a bishop’s head-dress.
Around 120 people live at Milford Sound, although the population does fluctuate around tourism seasons.
