Nominations closed at noon today for the Southland District Council by-elections, following insufficient nominations at the recent triennial elections held on 12 October 2019.

Those nominated are:

Ardlussa Community Board (one vacancy):

  • BOURQUE, Barbara (Waikaia Progress League)
  • DRAKE, Trevor
  • EATON, Paul William

Oraka Aparima Community Board (three vacancies):

  • GOULD, Emma
  • GUISE, Julie (Colac Bay Progress League)
  • HORRELL, Annette
  • MCCALL, Robin
  • MENZIES, Kere

Oreti Community Board (Makarewa Subdivision) (two vacancies):

  • DORRICOTT, Andrew
  • JASPERSE, Carol
  • SYMONS, Treena

Waihopai Toetoe Community Board (two vacancies):

  • LYDERS, Serena
  • O’CONNOR, Joanne
  • STEVENSON, George
  • STRAITH, Andrea

As there are more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, a postal ballot for will commence for all respective electors on Monday 27 January 2020 with the delivery of voting documents.

Voting documents can be returned by post or hand delivered to the following council offices:\

- Council’s Principal Office, 15 Forth Street, Invercargill;
- Lumsden Area Office, 18 Diana Street, Lumsden;
- Riverton Area Office, 117 Palmerston Street, Riverton;
- Winton Area Office, Winton RSA Hall, 186 Great North Road, Winton.

All votes must be received by the electoral officer or an electoral official by noon, Tuesday 18 February 2020.
A person can apply to enrol as either a residential or ratepayer elector up to and including Monday 17 February 2020 – the day before the close of voting.
