Public participation and deputations

Every Council, committee and community board meeting has time allocated for public participation and deputations.

Public participation enables members of the public to bring matters to the attention of Council. The matters being raised do not have to be contained in the agenda of the meeting.

You can also present at a meeting on behalf of a group or organisation, as a deputation. The matters being raised do have to be contained in the agenda of the meeting.

If you would like to speak in public participation or as a deputation, please contact a member of the Governance Team on 0800 732 732 at least one clear working day before the meeting. We will discuss the rules around the processes including time limits and obtaining permission to speak.
