Council advise all property owners and residents of the district that weed spraying of vegetation on urban and rural roadsides is due to commence on 1 September 2023 and finish 30 June 2024. Application for No Spray register is for Southland District Council controlled roading network only. Weed spraying includes the control of rural pest plants within the road reserve as well as around street furniture (signs) and vegetation on footpaths and kerbs.

If you prefer to not have your frontage sprayed, please apply to Council to be added to its No Spray Register. Applications must be made on an annual basis. This applies to new applicants as well as those already on the current year’s list. Applications must be accurate and clearly display exact details of the property address, boundaries and have your own contact details in case we need to contact you.
