The future direction of Tuatapere’s historic railway station is set to be determined following a process initiated by the Tuatapere Te Waewae Community Board and Southland District Council.

Community consultation undertaken in 2020 resulted in the majority of submitters eager to see the asset retained and developed.

Now, as part of a recently launched Request for Information (RFI), parties are invited to register their interest by way of submitting a proposal for the future use and operation of the Tuatapere Railway Station.
The RFI process is designed to look at the social, economic, community and opportunity cost of all proposals received. Proposals for commercial or community are welcomed.

This opportunity seeks to help determine the future use and operation of a building important to the Tuatapere community. Proposals will be reviewed and assessed by staff, members of the community board and Council in general to find the best outcome for the future use of this building and land for the benefit of the community.
Innovative and ‘outside of the box’ proposals are encouraged and welcomed.
