eBooks and eAudiobooks

Southland District Library membership gives you free access to a range of online services, including eBooks and eAudiobooks for adults and children.

eBooks allow you to change the text size to suit your eyesight and are the perfect way to keep up with your reading on the go. eAudiobooks allow you to listen to your books wherever you are and are a great addition to any commute.

eBooks & eAudiobooks can be accessed through our catalogue (external link) or you can download them directly to your mobile device via the Libby and BorrowBox apps. All you need to get started is your library card and an internet connection. 

Libby by Overdrive

If you’re new to eBooks and eAudiobooks, Libby by Overdrive is a great place to start. It’s easy to use and is home to our largest collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks. Click on a link below to get your Overdrive App, or if you prefer not to download an app you can browse Libby online from your preferred browser.

 

Bolinda BorrowBox

From picture books to the latest thrillers, get your eBooks and eAudiobooks on the go with this great service. If you are after New Zealand or Australian fiction, Bolinda BorrowBox is the first place to look. Click on a link below to get your BorrowBox App!

 

Story Box Library

For children we have access to a fantastic online resource called Story Box Library featuring hundreds of children’s stories read by some well-known personalities, including many of the authors themselves. A personal favourite is “Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas” read by Aaron Blabey.

To use Story Box Library all you have to do is:

To access Storybox Library click 'Log In' at the top right of the page, when the drop down menus appear, first choose 'Library', then select Southland District Council from the drop down list. Type your library card number into the Public Library Card Number field.
