Southland District Libraries
Joining Southland District Libraries gives you access to an exciting range of collections, services and events. Whether you want to curl up with a good book, attend a school holiday programme, or build your computer skills at one of our digital literacy classes, Southland District Libraries has something for you.
We have branches at Lumsden, Otautau, Riverton, Stewart Island, Te Anau, Winton, and Wyndham. We also have a Mobile Bookbus, which visits 50 stops across the district.
Who can join?
Library membership is free to all Southland District residents, and, through reciprocal agreement, to residents living within the following local authority areas: Invercargill, Gore, Clutha, Queenstown Lakes, Central Otago, Dunedin and Waitaki. Temporary membership is available to Southland District visitors.
How do I join?
Joining is easy and takes about five minutes. An application form can be completed online by going to https://onlinereg.kotui.org.nz/forms/46 or at your local Southland District Libraries branch. (Temporary membership applications must be completed at a branch).
You can choose a digital-only membership, which gives you access to all our online resources, or a full membership, which also gives you access to our full physical collection. Once you have completed your application, you can call into your closest library branch to collect your brand new library card and learn more about our services.
If you are under the age of 16 you will need to have a parent or other guardian act as a guarantor.
