Refuse and recycling disposal

There are recycling centres across the district where you can bring your used goods for recycling. You can also recycle at all transfer stations and refuse sites. Council has partnered with its neighbouring local authorities to establish WasteNet. You will find information on their website about your rubbish collection dates. Also what services are available in your area. Recycling and refuse includes:

  • Greenwaste - separated clean greenwaste excluding soils, stones and other debris, flaxes, cabbage trees, branches over 150mm diameter and tree stumps
  • Scrapmetal - separated clean scrapmetal
  • Reuse/recyclables - domestic household items including cardboard, glass, plastic (types 1 and 2 and 5, look for the triangle on a plastic container to see what type it is), aluminium and tin cans, all clean from contamination.
    Item no longer accepted: Aluminium foil or trays, aerosols (like fly spray or spray deodorant), lids, containers (nothing smaller than a hummus pottle), paper (nothing smaller than a Post-It note), large plastics or metal cans (anything over 4 litres such as large water dispensers, or large olive oil tins), plastics that are not 1, 2, and 5 – look for the triangle on a plastic container to see what type it is.
